Barn in Spring
I painted this piece en plein air on a warm spring day, using oils and spatulas on a gessoed luan board. This barn and house is a short walk from where I live and one of my favorite places to paint because of the ever-changing shadow on the side of the barn and the ever-changing forsythia bush. Of course, it's my favorite in full bloom. I loved the boldness of the yellow against red, and the bright greens and blues of the grass and sky. This piece is in a solid wood frame.
