Krista E. Dalton

Krista arrived to the Berkshires in 1997 after completing her MFA in Glasgow, Scotland. During her early career, she was represented by Andrew Mummery Gallery in London and later by RARE Gallery in New York City. Krista chose to return to teaching in 1999, her lifelong professional dream of teaching and being an active artist. Krista thrives on the connection between making art and sharing that passion with others.

Krista's creative work primarily focuses on large-scale abstract woodcuts, which are paired with expansive oil paintings. These works are developed together, creating connections, but two different visual experiences. In addition to her woodcuts and paintings, she creates intricate paperworks that explore patterns, textures, and the inherent qualities of the material itself.

Her art exists in a delicate balance between abstraction and representation, drawing heavily from conceptual thinking. Krista’s work is driven by interplay between her hand, mind, and the materials, allowing them to express themselves in ways that are both intentional and organic.
